LABRADOR RETRIEVER PAINTINGS SHEILA WEDEGIS

                                                           "MY FOREVER HOME"

We recently were privileged and lucky enough to adopt a new Chocolate Puppy from Labs4Rescue.  The people I talked with and worked with in this journey were incredible and I know will be life long friends.

This is our Ozzie, 10 weeks, and the first painting of him. We have had him just 6 days and he has become a loving part of our family. Sophie, our oldest lab, likes him, but Sammy, our 6 year old loves him and Ozzie adores him.

This painting is a 10" x 8" Golden Open Acrylic artwork and will be framed.  25% of the sale will be of course going to Labs4Rescue!!

Thank you for helping to save a Lab today..Oh wait....WE DID!!!! :-)

$425.00 FREE SHIPPING   25% will go to LABS4RESCUE

LABRADOR RETRIEVER ACRYLIC ART by SHEILA WEDEGIS Stage 1

Fergus sent us a new chocolate Boy . We are in the process of adopting him from Labs4Rescue and we are so excited.  I knew the short version of how our soon to be Ozzie and his siblings were dropped at a shelter but now as I chat with his Foster Mum, I'm finding out more. I hope she doesn't mind me putting this in but it so needs to be heard.  This is just one example of cruelty, the only word I can think of.  So many other Lab Rescues and dog rescues, face similar stories.

The following is excerpts from her email.

"Another Labs4Rescue volunteer and I saw them at the shelter the day they were dumped there.  They were so pitiful and sick looking.  They were covered with scabs all over, and the yellow one I have now had an abscess on his head.   I could clearly see that they were crawling with fleas.  I'm telling you, I was absolutely horrified.  The fleas on the yellow babies were the most apparent.  Just on the flank of one of those guys, I could see probably 30 - 40 fleas crawling all over.  We knew we would pull those babies, but I didn't want them sitting in the shelter covered in all those fleas until we could get them, so I went to the vet's office and bought 7 capstar tablets that I took back to the shelter for them to give to the puppies.  I was so worried they would die from anemia.......the vet said they were just full of worms - every kind.  They were wormed there and were sent home with additional worming medicine. "

Ozzie's foster Mum went on to tell me how sick our Ozzie had been and she hand fed him boiled rice and shredded chicken so that he would get food into him and gain some strength.

The 16 x 20 beginning painting above is from a photo she took at the shelter.   The eyes of the pups spoke volumes to me.  So, you will see daily updates of the painting and when finished I will be offering it with 100% of the proceeds going to Labs4Rescue.

Remember to spay and neuter your pets. Give to your local shelters so they can help save lives. And thank the volunteers who bring these sweetys into their homes so they have a chance to find their forever homes.
    Thank you Kristi!!!!!!

FERGUS AND A NEW BOOK BY SHEILA M.WEDEGIS

I WAS SICK AND NOW I'M NOT

Our Chocolate Lab Fergus went to the Bridge this past Tuesday after a two month roller coaster bout with a brain tumor.   It came silently and sudden.
I spent nights on an inflatable mattress with him sleeping, then the couch with him on a chaise beside me. He hated the crate and he would walk in a circle til exhausted, or I was.  Now I think, as I did then, what a wonderful gift for me to share that with him.  Hearing him give a huge sigh when he knew he was safe and relaxed then rubbing his head til he slept.

In my grieving I did this simple book.  Please take a peek. Proceeds from the sale, all of it will be going to Animal Medical Clinic in my home Palm Bay. I started the Emergency fund after our Sammy had emergency surgery thinking how many people have emergency's with their pets they can't afford.

Little did I know that I would be the first recipient when Fergus had to spend three days in intensive care. Now my goal is to replace the funds and raise more.
Watch your dog for signs and  have them checked.. Fergus slowed a bit. He was almost 11 so we thought a natural thing like our older Sophie.  He had a slight limp at times and his toe would drag.  He didn't do a sit which he was meticulous at. I made an appointment to see if he had hip dysplaysia or arthritis.

From there it came on like gang busters. .He did look like he was recovering and it hit again.

This book is in his honor.

LABRADOR RETRIEVER ACRYLIC ART by SHEILA WEDEGIS

"SNOW BOY"
After re-painting this image after maybe after 5-6 years for a resolution issue on Fine Art America, I decided this morning to offer it or half the price a 16 x 20 painting would be now. My next dilemma was to choose a Lab Rescue for  percentage to go to.
0

A 16 x 20 sells for 960.00 but for this painting it will be offered for 425.00 with 50% going to the Lab rescue.  Free Shipping.

To be honest I struggle daily to make a living as a professional artist but I know medical bills and food alone for Labs waiting to be re-homed can be astronomical.  My Labs have a forever home but so many don't. Let's try and help sve a Lab today!!

Thanks, Sheila

LABRADOR RETRIEVER ACRYLIC ART by SHEILA WEDEGIS

DARCY THE FACE OF LABRADOR RETRIEVER RESCUE SCOTLAND
from the photo by Martina Cross Photographs

I did this painting with Golden Open Acrylics and will be a gift for Carolyne L.Poulton in Caithness, Scotland. We are arriving there May 9th after spending a night in Loch Ness.

Carolyne, along with Cathy Mathews run this Rescue.  Carolyne , pretty much on her own, with the help of fantastic fosters in her area. She re-homes Labs through Scotland.  Recently we became sponsors for two Chocolate Labs that were mother and daughter and needed surgery and medical care. they were in terrible shape. Carolyne used her own money from her birthday to care for these sweet dogs.
My hope is to raise money to help these and others in Carolyne's care.
If you care to help please go toSheila Wedegis Fine Art America
where you will find cards, prints on canvas and on paper of this image.

100% of all purchases will go to Carolyne's Lab Rescue.
Thank you all from the bottom of my Labby heart for helping to Save A Lab Today!!
